Festspielhaus Bregenz
In August 2005 the Architects Dietrich | Untertrifaller began the second building phase of the Generalsanierung of the Festspielhaus and Kongresshaus of Bregenz. Vogt Landscape Architects of Zurich were contracted to implement the design and its conversion for Symphoikerplatz. Art should become a part of the concept for a place. Häusler Contemporary organised and cooridnated a contest for the design of the Symphonikerplatz area.
The culture office of Bregenz invited internationally renowned art team and artists to prepare suggestions and design concepts. The invited artists were:
Julie Ault/Martin Beck
Gottfried Bechtold
Ayse Erkmen
Rita McBride
Cerith Wyn Evans
Heimo Zobernig.
In February a top-class international panel met in order to determine the winning project. Two projects were unanimously chosen by the jury for construction: the plans of Cerith Wyn Evans and Gottfried Bechtold.
