History of the gallery Häusler Contemporary
Since 1992 when Wolfgang Häusler started exhibiting contemporary art in Munich he concentrated his activities on presenting art and realizing art projects in cooperation with established and young international artists and architects.
Over the last two decades, gallery work became the main focus of the activities of Häusler Contemporary. The intense collaboration over many years with artists such as James Turrell, Keith Sonnier or Hamish Fulton led to an increasing number of exhibition projects and defined our gallery program in the field of contemporary conceptual sculpture and painting.
Häusler Contemporary is currently running gallery spaces in Munich and Zurich and is representing established and emerging artists such as James Turrell, Keith Sonnier, Hamish Fulton, Roman Signer, David Reed, Jürgen Partenheimer, Judy Ledgerwood, Sébastien de Ganay, Hubert Kiecol, Reto Boller, Marco Schuler, Alejandra Seeber, Craig Yu, Brigitte Kowanz, Erwin Redl or Koka Ramishvili.
Important but less known – and yet to be rediscovered - positions of the 1960s and 1970s such as Bill Bollinger, Richard Allen Morris, Reinhold Krüger or Peter Young are also major focus of our gallery program. Häusler Contemporary Munich is member of the BVDG.
In addition to promoting the gallery artists and exhibiting their work in group and solo exhibitions in our galleries in Zurich and Munich, some of them curated by guest curators, Häusler Contemporary created over the years numerous publications and catalogues and initiated and/or collaborated in important public art projects; as for example James Turrell’s Skyspace in Zuoz, Switzerland or in art and architecture projects such as Keith Sonnier’s Light installations in Munich, Germany.
